Ray Lewis.
Ray Lewis.
The newest addition to INSIDE THE NFL, Ray Lewis joins veterans Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason as an analyst during the show’s 10th season on SHOWTIME.
The Baltimore Ravens’ second-ever draft pick, Lewis led the organization to its first two Super Bowls during his NFL career, the entirety of which he spent in Baltimore. The 13-time Pro Bowler finished his career as a Super Bowl MVP and two-time Super Bowl Champion with 2050 combined tackles, 19 forced fumbles and 31 interceptions under his belt. He holds the moniker as one of the most decorated linebackers to ever play in the NFL, and is widely considered to be a top candidate to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2018 class.
Lewis’s arrival to INSIDE THE NFL coincides with his debut as an analyst on FOX Sports and follows a three-year stint with ESPN, where he was a prominent fixture on SUNDAY NFL COUNTDOWN and MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.
The 17-year NFL veteran played collegiate football at the University of Miami, where he started the Hurricanes’ final five games as a freshman and was named to the freshman All-American team. In his final two seasons with the Hurricanes, he was named All Big-East, and was a runner-up for The Butkus Award, given to the best linebacker in collegiate football. Lewis holds the school’s individual season record for tackles by a middle linebacker with 160.

College football recruiting: Five-star linebacker Terrence Lewis commits Maryland over Miami, Tennessee.
Terrence Lewis just became one of Maryland's top commitments in the 247Sports era.
The nation's top-rated inside linebacker in the 2021 recruiting class announced Saturday that he is committing to Maryland. Terrence Lewis, who is considered the No. 16 overall player in the class by the 247Sports Composite, picked the Terrapins over Miami and Tennessee. He was previously committed to the Volunteers but re-opened his recruitment on Nov. 30.
Lewis is the fourth-highest rated player to commit to Maryland in the 247Sports era and the highest rated commitment secured by coach Mike Locksley, who just wrapped up his second season with the Terrapins. Maryland finished 2-3 in the abbreviated season, but did show signs of progress in victories over Minnesota and Penn State following a 3-9 campaign in Locksley's first year.
"I think they're up and coming right now," Lewis said after making his announcement. "I think they've got a couple good recruits. All they need is a little bit more to be one of the top teams in their conference. Hopefully we can win a wing before I leave."
Lewis, who played high school football at Miami Central in Florida, was considered the No. 5 overall player in the Sunshine State by the 247Sports Composite. He projects as a potential future second or third round draft pick, according to 247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins, who wrote the following scouting report:
Lean, muscled-up defender with minimal, if any, body fat. Longer arms. A bit light in the lower half. By far one of the more athletic linebackers in the class. Flies around the field chasing after ball carriers. Speed allows him to be a difference maker outside the hashes. Solid tackler for someone with his build that understands the importance of using leverage. Gets home on a blitz more often than not. Has flashed the ability to flip his hips and run in coverage, but hasn't been asked to cover many tight ends at the high school level. Short-tempered player that can find a mean streak. Embraces contact. Must, however, get better at stacking and shedding blockers to avoid getting swallowed up. Totaled over 100 tackles as a junior at one of the Sunshine State's top talent-producing programs. Continued to produce as a senior. Should be able to make an impact on all three downs at the Power 5 level. Could be a Mike or a Will depending on the scheme. NFL upside.

Texas Football Recruiting: Carthage's three-star OLB Kip Lewis receives offer.
Texas recently offered three-star outside linebacker Kip Lewis.
The Longhorns are just the latest team to offer the exploding defender. The Carthage, Texas, native has received offers from some of the biggest programs in the country since his 4A-DII state championship with Carthage. Oklahoma offered the outside linebacker on Wednesday, while LSU and Texas A&M extended offers on Thursday.
The junior had a breakout season where he recorded 140 tackles and 17.0 of those were for a loss. He added on four sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one interception. Lewis is rightfully getting the recognition that he deserves.

EF’s Lewis picks Butler and football.
By Jose Negron.
Elizabeth Forward senior Evan Lewis isn’t used to having much free time.
When he’s not at practice for football, basketball or baseball, Lewis is training on his own or putting in work to succeed inside the classroom.
There has never truly been an offseason for the multi-sport standout.
Nowadays, things are a little bit different.
Instead of gearing up for the Warriors’ upcoming basketball season, Lewis is going to physical therapy three times a week and working out just about every day at home.
Lewis is recovering after undergoing knee surgery in November following a season-ending injury against South Allegheny Oct. 9.
“This injury has taught me how to face adversity and that you shouldn’t take anything for granted,” said Lewis, who is ahead of schedule in his rehab and intends to make a full recovery by June.
“Everything could be over in a moment and you shouldn’t take plays off.”
Due to his injury, Lewis was forced to miss the final five games of Elizabeth Forward’s season, including the WPIAL Class 3A championship game against Central Valley Nov. 13.
While he was still able to join his teammates on the sideline at North Allegheny, the experience wasn’t the same for a player who had served as a valuable asset as the Warriors’ starting quarterback a month prior.
“It was hard watching the game due to the fact that my friends and I have talked about playing for a WPIAL title since we started playing football,” Lewis said. “I tried to do everything I could to still help the team. I would work with Zion White and Vernon Settles at practice to help them prepare for the games.”
